Web Banner Ads in Pink and Gold

Here’s something a little different from DBDA: a series of web banner ads for the 2011 Seattle Erotic Ball. The campaign we designed included posters, postcards, and print and web advertising was full of loud colors, grungy textures and gothic type. As you can see, we’re fully adept at many different design styles and aesthetics.

Welcoming New Clients – Spring 2011

If you’re wondering why we haven’t been posting much to our blog lately, the answer is simple. We’ve been busy getting to know some very nice new clients* and creating some very nice new design work for them! Who are these businesses you ask? Here they are…

  • Cascade Centers, Inc.
  • DataRaker (with good friends, Feldish Design)
  • Distilling Head, LLC
  • Investment Property Group (all the way from Louisville, Kentucky! Thank you, Meg!)
  • Portland’s Distillery Row (new website coming soon!)
  • San Carlos Childen’s Theater
  • SignalSet, Inc. (makers of TruckerLink–new sites for both coming soon)
  • TouchFire, Inc.

*We like to think of our clients as partners–we’re with you every step of the way, or just when you need us. But, when we are working with you to help sell your product or service we like to think of ourselves as being on your team. Yes, it’s corny but it’s also true. Want to join our growing list of happy clients? Contact us already!

Poster for a Gastronomic Soirée

We designed this full-color poster for a very special event at the Benson Hotel benefitting Foundation Batum and Mama of Africa. The poster shows photos of the group’s work in Cameroon, and features the son of the Foundation’s founder Nicolas Batum (who just happens to play for the Portland Trail Blazers). The Gastronomic Soirée takes place on Wednesday March 16th at 6:00pm, and you can get your tickets at Tickets Oregon.

Up All Night at McFadden’s

Smells Like a Magazine

Here’s a new site we designed, that’s actually a resurrection of a site previously online from 2006-2008. Smells Like Pop is a music magazine published “by pops and people who smell like pops.” Writers for the site hail from up and down the West Coast from Portland, to the SF Bay Area to Los Angeles. The site is co-edited by David Bailey (DBDA), so now you can hear what kind of music makes him feel zippy!

A Row of Logos for Distillery Row

We recently had the pleasure of creating new branding for Distillery Row, a guild of six distilleries all operating in the Southeast Industrial District of Portland. The distilleries, Integrity Spirits, House Spirits, New Deal Distillery, Deco Distilling, Stone Barn Brandyworks and Highball Distillery are all known locally and many nationally for creating premium hand-crafted spirits. We know because we’ve tried them all, and they’re all delicious!

Because of their history in the neighborhood and the old-school way in which they create their products, we decided to reflect those aspects of the Row and create a logo with a retro-industrial flavor. But why stop there?! Because of the many events that Distillery Row sponsors, and the wide range of locations and products the logo will appear on, we thought it made sense to create a family of logos instead. They go from very simple and clean (the baby logo) for cramped uses, to the “big-daddy” version of the logo that includes the tag-line “6 Distilleries. 20 City Blocks.” and the words “Tours and Tastings” all contained in the large crest. There are also different versions, solid and outline in both white and black for different placements.

Next up? We’re working on a new website, so stay tuned!

Claus and Paws are on the Case!

Here’s a fun poster we just did for the Pearl District’s Claus and Paws holiday benefit event for Dove Lewis. If you have a dog or cat, or even something more exotic please bring your little friend down to Lexidog Pearl on Sunday, December 5th from 11AM to 3PM and have their picture taken with Santa Claus.

Yes, that’s where the name came from. Did you think that it was the exciting story of a cranky cat who drinks too much and a seemingly dim-witted, but actually quite intelligent dog who work as extra Christmas help in the Pearl District, but then crack unsolvable crimes at night. That would be a great show … Anybody?

Open Affairs Television Branding

Logo and business cards for new internet television site, Open Affairs that will examine transparency in all aspects of technology, government and healthcare. The red “person” is a combination of the O and the A of the name and also symbolizes a transmission tower broadcasting to the world and (if you squint really hard), a keyhole for unlocking previously hidden information.
