We’ve been too busy to post any new stuff to the blog lately, but we wanted to share these nice new business card designs for studio-98, a contemporary candid wedding (and event) photography studio in the Northwest. Not coincidentally, we’re also working on their new website that we hope to share with you soon.

We’ve been passing out Smells Like Pop buttons all this week at MusicFest NW. And, guess what? We just learned that the “musical toot” logo we designed for SLP is going to be featured in the next Logo Lounge anthology of logos! This is one of the primo hardcover collections of branding designs. Woot! Toot!

More ideas from the Less-is-More files: A series of four mini billboards for Jacobs Heating and Air Conditioning quickly communicate the competitive advantages of the company with one-word headlines. The panels are big and bright so they can be easily read from cars on the street. Whether you read the secondary copy or not, the big idea is already intertwined with the company name and logo, and hopefully stuck in your head. Click the image for a larger view.

We just designed these groovy (and loud) business cards for Smells Like Pop, an on-line music magazine with “music news, opinion, blather and snark.” The writers of SLP (of which I myself am one!) are for the most part all “Pops” (or at least old enough to smell like a pop) and hail from up and down the West Coast. The OIBA connects companies, business professionals, governmental officials, universities, and economic development agencies to expand business and economic relations between the State of Oregon and the State of Israel.

Our hats are off to OIBA Secretary, Jeff Katz for being a great collaborator on this project, making it a truly enjoyable work experience.

The website we designed for Distillery Row was built in WordPress using a Woo theme as the base of the site. We’re happy to share that the nice people at Woo Themes liked what we did, and have added the site to their Featured section of their showcase. Here’s a bit of what they wrote: “I just wanted to reach out and say great job on the site! Seriously, it looks great and I definitely hope you’re enjoying the theme … we love what you’ve done with the site!”

The Photo Lounge is Portland’s Coolest Photo booth! And, now they have a website that matches their high-energy, fun and interactive photo shoots. The Photo Lounge is a great addition to wedding receptions, Bar Mitzvahs, company parties, charity events, birthday parties and just about any kind of event you can throw. Fun and crazy props, colorful backgrounds and their awesome professional photographers come together to create an experience you and your guests will love and remember! Sometimes simpler really is better. Especially when a web site is built to serve one main function: selling a new book on lateral legal recruiting by one of the experts in the field, Adam S. Weiss. The new book is available as an on-demand printed paperback, and as a digital book for the Kindle and the Nook. Almost everything  you need to know is on the home page. A blog that repurposes and expands on some of the book’s content casts a large net for SEO (search engine optimization). Simpler is sometimes better.

Deco Distilling is moving into their new production facility, complete with a Tasting Room that will be open on weekends, so they needed new business cards. We helped them out with a nice refresh that’s equal parts vintage Deco and rock-and-roll. While the spirits are hand-crafted, these cards are all about sales, so we put an ad on the back for their delicious new Coffee Rum. And, yes that is a Silver Medal from the 2011 World Spirits Competition. Thanks for noticing.
